Antonio Nitto – Noon metaphor. Writings on the Southern Question 1946-1976

Antonio Nitto, Noon metaphor. Writings on the Southern Question 1946-1976, edited by Giuseppe Nitto, Salerno, Galzerano Editore, 1991.

In this volume, edited by his son Geppino, a part of the articles that Antonio Nitto published in various newspapers and magazines from the beginning of his advertising activity until shortly before his death are brought together, taking an interest in and focusing on various political and socio-economic issues and events in the South. Particularly useful and significant in our view are his writings related to local events and episodes, primarily to the occupation of winter lands 1949 and its consequences. As rightly reported on the back cover «these writings are the testimony of his civil and political passion, but also of the attachment to his land and his people, for the improvement of which he has always fought with commitment and consistency through writings and civil battles".

Antonio Nitto (Buccino 1 August 1926 – Naples 3 September 1980), militant socialist from a young age, wrote in magazines and newspapers (Avanti, Justice, Social criticism, North and South, Economic World, The Socialist Voice, The other Italy, ecc.), he directed the magazines “Exchanges and customs- Customs life” and “Campania Documents” and has published two monographic volumes: “Facilitations for the industrial development of the South” (1962) and “L’IVA in dogana” (1973).
